Where is personal information collected?
Personal information may be collected in the following ways:
Personal information given directly Examples include:
- Enquiring about Langlo in person, through the website, via email, through the post, via social media, via text (including WhatsApp and other messaging apps) or by telephone.
- Purchasing the Online Course or products in the Online Shop.
- Signing up to a mailing list.
Personal information given indirectly
When you engage with Langlo’s social media accounts, personal information may be obtained through your use of platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or LinkedIn, depending on your settings or the privacy notices of these social media and messaging services. To change your settings, please refer to their privacy notices which will tell you how to do this.
When you visit the Langlo website, general information is gathered about how you use it, as well as information about the type of device you are using to access them (e.g. phone, tablet, PC). This data helps to create a better online experience for you; for example, make it easier for you to find what you’re looking for or fix elements that make the website difficult to use.
As you progress through the different sections of content, all that user progress data is stored within the logic of our app. It’s not a browseable, parseable data that tells you “Customer X likes to do Y on Mondays”, it's just a complicated database table of relations that simply say which sections of the content have been completed, eg:
block id = 1
completed = yes/no
lesson id = 1
completed = yes/no
Also stored within the logic of the app are:
Rankings, which log:
rank #
username
avatar
country flag
kosmo points
Forum posts, which log:
username of post author
username of post reply author
date
topic title
forum category
When you use the Service, you will submit information and content to your profile. We will also generate data about your use of our Services including your engagement in educational activities on the Service, last high score for in-app exams, or your posting of messages in the forum and otherwise transmitting information to other users (“Activity Data”). We also collect data about how you interact with our Services; for more information, see Cookies (link to section below).
What personal information is collected?
Relevant personal information is collected via the website contact form or provided by you via email or other means. This may include (but isn’t limited to) your name, native language/accent, and email address.
Through the registration process, you will provide us with your name, username, a password, an e-mail address (or parent’s e-mail address), and subscription type. You will select an avatar. This data is stored on Amazon Web Services.
When purchasing a product from the website (such as the online course or products from the online shop), personal information, payment and transaction data will be collected and sent to payment providers Stripe. The website ensures that payments are always made securely via https://. After a transaction, your payment information will not be stored on our servers.
You will provide our payment processor Stripe with your payment transaction information, this will also autolog your country. When you add a new payment method, you input: ‘name of credit card holder’, card info (credit card + security code + zip code), email. All this data is stored on Stripe along with the last 4 digits of the card used and displayed inside our app. You can also see the Stripe generated pdf of your payment history (receipt/paid invoice) that you can download.
The core part of Stripe is that Stripe keeps all the full payment info - we just keep corollary info and have to consult with them directly if we need any details. On Amazon Web Services we just keep corollary consultation information: the last 4 digits of payment cards, a record of whether people paid or not, and when they did so, and for how much. We don’t ever store full card payment information on Amazon Web Services that could lead to jeopardising you, the client.
Product Research and Development
We may contact you to participate in product research activities. These may include surveys, interviews, and other types of feedback sessions. When you participate in these research activities, the information you provide will be used to test, improve, and develop our products. We will record this feedback together with any additional contact information you provide and will retain this data for two years.
Please contact us at support@langlo.uk to:
- Request more information about the research activities you have volunteered for.:
- Opt out of being contacted for research activities.:
- Request a copy of any research related data you have provided to us.
